Amazon investing in localised sports podcast content

Internet giant Amazon is planning investments in localised sports podcasts to go alongside its fledgling portfolio of live media rights, according to Axios.

The American news outlet reports that Amazon will look to invest in podcast networks such as Blue Wire using its Alexa Fund, the Seattle-headquartered company’s venture arm named after its voice platform.  

Axios added that Amazon is keen to add short-form audio content that would surface when Alexa users ask for information about news and sports.
