The panel is a follow-up to a webinar session from June, in which we asked how the next generation of sports content platforms would be designed. In this new session, our panel of experts look beyond ad- and subscription-funded models to investigate the power and usage of betting, live commerce and more.


The panel included:


Murray Barnett, director of D2C Sport, formerly F1, World Rugby, ESPN and NBA

Murray Barnett is a sports media and commercial expert who now heads up OTT consultancy D2C Sport.

His career has included stints as the director of sponsorship and commercial partnerships at Formula 1 and a four-year spell at World Rugby where he was head of broadcast, commercial and marketing, then chief commercial officer, overseeing commercial activities for events like the Rugby World Cup and Rugby World Cup Sevens. Prior to this, he held a variety of roles at ESPN, including being director of the broadcaster’s ESPN International division and vice-president, TV sales and head of international syndication sales for parent company ESPN.

Barnett was also the international television coordinator for the National Basketball Association between 1997 and 1999 and served as a senior sales manager for ISL TV between 1999 and 2001.


Rayde Baez, strategic advisor to Euroleague Basketball and founder The Connect Rayde Baez founded and runs international partnerships and business strategy advisory firm The Connect from which he serves as strategic advisor to Euroleague Basketball’s executive committee. He also co-founded and is a managing partner of Sporthink, a specialist advisory firm focused on sourcing investment capital for sports entities seeking technological transformation. Baez was previously part of the leadership structure of Euroleague Basketball in its marketing partnerships department, while also undertaking the strategic direction of the league’s digital business and content marketing operations, creating award winning branded content and activation projects

Tony Wang, co-founder, head of emerging technologies and markets, Agora Tony Wang is the co-founder of video, voice and live interactive streaming company Agora with responsibility for emerging technologies and emerging markets. He has over 15 years’ experience in the technology and start-up space. Tony holds a BS/MS in Computer Science from Purdue and USC.
